A Year of Promising Events for Progressives

From Desley Garnett – member of the committee planning this year’s Common Dreams Conference in Brisbane – in September:

GREETINGS!

The new year has begun and I trust you will find plenty of joy and enough challenges to keep you alive and kicking! I want to alert you to some things that are happening within the progressive spirituality movement that I am aware of in 2016 that you can put onto your calendar and plan to attend.

COMMON DREAMS 4 CONFERENCE
As you will see from the signature at the bottom, Brisbane has the privilege of hosting the national/international Common Dream conference September 16 – 19. Yes – you can attend this conference without the extra cost of travel and accommodation! Planning is well underway and we will be looking for lots of locals to assist with the conference as volunteers – more to come on that later, but please block out those dates in your diary. Check out the preliminary info at http://www.commondreams.org.au/index.php/news
SATURDAY 5TH MARCH – VAL WEBB SEMINAR: Testing Tradition and Liberating Theology: Finding your own voice
Dr Val Webb will speak at a full day seminar hosted by Common Dreams on the Road at Merthyr Road Uniting Church Centre on the basis of her latest book, Testing Tradition and Liberating Theology. You can read more about Val, originally a Brisbanite, at her website http://www.valwebb.com.au. If you have not heard Val speak previously or read any of her books, Val comes recommended as a highly acclaimed theologian within the Australian context who is internationally acclaimed as attacher, presenter and author. We have been privileged to have Val speak in Brisbane several times, and we look forward to her presentation and the opportunity to engage with the subject in small groups. Claim the date now – registration details will be emailed to you very soon.
