LAY FORUM OPEN SEMINAR – The what and why of Diversity

Can we find a way of holding Christian identity which sends us towards the other with love and hospitality?

“The Church needs to rid itself of the dominant ideology of western society – white entitlement, and has the primary task to pull this apart from the gospel so that it can speak critically, with integrity, to our culture. The Church needs to be a truth teller about our society, teach, witness and act out an alternative way, and help to shape public attitudes and practices in a framework of social justice.”    Walter Brueggemann

Date of Seminar: Tuesday 8th April 2014

Time:  9.30am Morning Tea –  10am to Noon – Seminar

Venue: Wavell Uniting Church Centre, 147 Rode Road, Wavell Heights, North Brisbane.

This is a facilitated conversation where the participants can choose to make comment and offer their thoughts in a safe environment. Equally those attending can simply observe the conversation and make no comment. We are pleased to have with us our two professorial members: Peter Fensham and Noel Preston. Peter and Noel will be invited to reflect on the conversation as it progresses. To stimulate the conversation we shall be showing three short clips from Diana Butler Bass, Brian McLaren and Walter Brueggemann.
